By NEIL GROSE | An unprecedented heat wave greeted anglers on the pre-fish of he second round of the Spirit of Tasmania Bream Classic on the picturesque Swan River — with temperatures soaring above 40°C.

As a result day one catches were down on expectations, although the top half of the field managed to get a four or five fish bag.

Sportsfishtasmania.com were the leading team on day one, but only by the narrowest of margins to Riverside Quality Meats and Bream Brothers — 25g separating the top three teams. Day one saw 57 bream weighed in with an average weight of around 0.8kg.

Day Two started a lot cooler and promised much, with most teams heading downstream to fish the flats and racks. Team Sportsfishtasmania.com continued their day one form (where they caught over 30 bream) and pulled a great five fish bag, upgrading many times through the day.

Bream Brothers weighed in early with a cracking bag and team Zipbaits with a Tackle Us Big Bag of 5.62kg (the biggest of day two) followed through from day one with a trouble free session to nearly pull back the deficit from day one.

Day two saw 77 bream weighed in for a lower average weight of 0.77kg, but they did look rather nice swimming around in the ‘Super Mini Tank’.
