The Source – Tasmania‘ is the lead feature of the ‘Rise – Fly Fishing Film Festival 2009‘ with its stunning movies from global destinations including Tasmania, India, and Russia.

Part of a series, ‘The Source’, the world’s largest fishing film festival, exposes the best fly fishing destinations from around the world. This year’s film is complemented with a high-energy soundtrack and includes well-known bands from Australia and New Zealand.

When asked about the inspiration for ‘The Source – Tasmania‘, the film’s director and producer, Nick Reygaert, said: “‘The Source‘ is about finding quality fly fishing destinations that are a little bit off the tourist map.

“Tasmania, as a fly fishing destination, has incredible diversity and beauty, it was the perfect setting for the adventure-driven fly fishing movie we wanted to make.

“For wilderness and big trout, Tasmania can provide an experience to rival any fly fishing destination on the planet. Also, more than a century ago, the first trout ever to be transported to the Southern Hemisphere were hatched in the Salmon Ponds Hatchery in Tasmania.

“The progeny from these first few eggs were then transplanted into countries throughout the Southern Hemisphere… therefore, when it comes to fly fishing Downunder, Tasmania is ‘The Source‘”.

‘Rise – Fly Fishing Film Festival 2009‘ will visit Australia and New Zealand as a limited release and will stop in more than 25 cities, including Dunedin, Christchurch, Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth and Darwin, and a number of Tasmanian outlets.
